Depth of Field
Overview
Depth of Field (DOF) is a highly common term in the photography industry, which refers to the distance range before and after the measured subject at the front of the camera lens or other imager when a clear image can be obtained. Aperture, lens, and the distance from the focal plane to the subject are important factors affecting the Depth of Field.
The feature of the Depth of Field effect in the game is to add a blur effect to the non-focused image, making the attention focus on a certain area at the same time, which is more like the special effect in the movie bringing more sense of reality. There is a blurred feeling in the near and far regions.

Depth of Field Enable
Enable the Depth of Field effect in the global effects. Click Window (Menu Bar) -> Default Effect in the Editor to open the Default Effect window, where DOF is the depth of field.
Property | Description |
---|---|
Visible | Whether to enable the depth of field effect. |
Focus Range | The range that can be clearly imaged, unit (m). |
Far Blur Scale | Adjust the blur of the far region. |
Near Blur Distance | Adjust the blur distance of the near region, unit (m). |
Near Blur Scale | Adjust the blur of the near region. |
Focus Range
Focus Range, with its range from 0.0001 to 1500.0000 (m), refers to the front and rear distance range from the camera lens to the focus object. The distance area from the farthest point to the focus object is the far blurred area. The larger the Focus Range, the greater the Depth of Field.
Adjust the Focus Range to see the effect with the Far Blur Scale as 5 and Near Blur Distance and Near Blur as 0 respectively.

Far Blur Scale
Far Blur Scale, with its range from 0.00 to 5.00, can be adjusted to control the blur of the far blurred area (focus range), and also affects the transition between the focus area and the far blurred area at the connection.
Adjust the Far Blur Scale to see the effect with the Focus Range as 250 and Near Blur Distance and Near Blur as 0 respectively.

Near Blur Distance
Contrary to the area controlled by the Focus Range, Near Blur Distance, with its range from 0.0001 to 1500.0000 (m), is to blur the distance from the camera lens to the focus object (near blurred area).
Adjust the Near Blur Distance to see the effect with the Focus Range as 250, Far Blur Scale as 5 and Near Blur Scale as 2 respectively.

Near Blur
Near Blur, with its range from 0.00 to 5.00, can be adjusted to control the blur of the near blurred area, and also affects the transition between the focus area and the near blurred area at the connection.
Adjust the Near Blur to see the effect with the Focus Range as 800, Far Blur Scale as 5 and Near Blur Distance as 100 respectively.
